For the last several years I have been creating unique kaleidoscopes known as the Artist Proof Collection. It's been a special time to reflect on the creative side of form and function.
I started out this year taking a completely new direction. I challenged myself to make a batch of scopes that were completely identical. The hope was to save time in the photography department since the scopes would all look the same. As you can see, it didn't turn out so well. Each kaleidoscope has it's own unique personality inside.
The latest series feature a combination of 8,9, and 10 point mirror systems. The lampworked pieces of glass that I created were specifically designed to take advantage of the type of object cell that I decided to use. What does that mean? Well, after more than 10 years, I'm happy to release a limited edition oil filled kaleidoscopes titled "Tropical Rainbow".
